CA Aspirants Beat the Pandemic Blues

Stuck indoor? Spending more time than you ever have at home? It is important in these testing times to safeguard yourself from the Corona Virus and minimize your contact with people and places.

Before Covid, as you were attending coaching classes, group studies, work and were moving around for many other purposes as well, you had a routine and the day had an order. You must be missing that routine and order.

At the beginning you would have felt like some fun or break but not for longer. And it doesn’t seem ending very soon. It will take its course to develop a safe vaccine. We have to adapt to this new situation and must make a progress by utilizing this time well.

People having great patience and diligence takes up the path of professional degrees like CA, CS, CMA and others. Aspirants of these degrees are the ones who have self-discipline and a strong commitment as these examinations can’t be passed without these traits.

So this is just a nudge to remind you if you are lost in the sluggishness of being home from long.

Points to Think Over:

  • Restore your sense of being and stand for the reason of each day given to you by God.
  • Respect yourself for who you are and what can you do. Just think of positive changes you may bring by activating yourself to action.

Points to Act:

  • Follow morning routines. Staying home doesn’t mean staying in pajamas and short pants, Dress yourself well. Do your hair, keep yourself clean and fresh.
  • Make time for everything. Make a routine plan that is easy to follow and follow this routine plan for 10 days. Then make the improvisations in timings and order of activities, if required, but go slow. Make only one change and practice for 10 days and then the next change.
  • Plan your studies but with regular intervals. Give high importance to your study material, and also find place for reference books and other sources that may help you build a good understanding of subjects.
  • Plan solving past year question papers in stipulated time every week or fortnight. This will help you understand your weak areas to work upon. Buy past year papers here
  • Find time to chat with your peer group and friends and discuss topics with them.
  • Make a time for group studies on video conferencing Apps like Google Meet, Zoom etc. This will help you come out of loneliness and will be a great platform for group studies. But make it focused on topic and outcome.
  • Take good sleep. Keep 7 – 8 hours for sleep in your routine plan.
  • Keep some “me time” to express yourself through your hobby at least 3 to 4 hours a week. That will keep you happy and motivated.
  • You may include activities as per your needs and priorities as in this Covid times household chores are also to be performed. Don’t overburden yourself but don’t lie idle without purpose and routine.

The crux is accepting the situation and doing your best. These times will pass surely but wasting a long period is wise from no angle, so make best out of it. Sticking to your routine with required improvisations will do the trick.

How should one prepare for CS Professional?

You have pretty good time to prepare well. Never feel constrained with paucity of time rather focus sharper.
Firstly decide how many groups you are going to appear for. It should be clear to you from the day one, don’t keep the confusion till the end. Give equal importance to each subject.

Plan your papers in a way that you study same paper at least once in two days otherwise you start forgetting the formulas, and it takes comparatively more effort to restart. Subjects like financial management, and taxation must be practiced everyday. Do a bit everyday.

Never start with the assumption that doing easier once in the beginning and tough ones for later point of time is a good strategy. Work on your weaknesses simultaneously. Give equal time to both. Moreover love the hated subjects by studying them more and more.

Practice writing. What happens in exam is that you know the answer fully but you fail to write the answers the way it is expected. Sometimes you end up writing those points which doesn’t make precise answer and you overshoot the limit of words. If the answer is loose in first 3-4 sentences, then it hardly matters how well you have written afterwards. For this practice scanners of every papers. This gives you a lot of confidence while answering. You may buy scanners here.

Have trust in you, maintain peace, maintain a simple life, and embrace the hard work. Best of luck!

How do you feel after passing CS Foundation Examination?

It’s a great feeling to be a rank holder. It feels wonderful when everyone appreciates you but at the other hand, you set a new bar for yourself. That poses great responsibility to maintain and also to go beyond that.

What all has contributed to this success?

It’s my parents’ blessings and cooperation, and my teachers’ efforts and guidance which is always there for me round the clock. Moreover my passion towards studies has been well nourished by good study materials of Shuchita Prakashans (P) Ltd. that my teachers guided me to study.

What challenges did you face during your preparation?

Choice of coaching classes and study material was a challenge as its quality that matters not the quantity. I also faced family problems during my preparation but I followed my priority which was to clear foundation examination.

How could you cope up with them? How did your coaching/teacher(s) help you?

I had a very small time for studies due to my family responsibilities but I faced the situation with positive attitude and kept balancing both by enjoying them. As far as my coaching classes are considered they are the best.My teachers never make me feel that I am alone. They are always there on my side. In short I can see that we have very free and interactive classes. We have not mug up the things but understood every topic thoroughly.

Your advice to the aspirant for CS Foundation Examination.

Don’t wait for the magic to happen, let it be created by you. If I can do this, yes every student can. It’s something called polishing which matter for the diamond. Always be yourself and be clear about your goals. Always think about yourself to be the most special one and never compare yourself with others

Your views about Scanner or Solved Scanner.

It’s wonderful book. The only thing I recommend that at the end of every book there should be given some 2 or 3 question papers of exam pattern as it help to be more confident. Exam oriented guidance could also add value to the book.
